Sherman Oaks, CA - May 11, 2006 Yesterday, leading banks raised their prime lending rate offered to their best customers to 8.00%.  Two years ago it was 4.00%. When the prime was at 4.00%, many franchisees chose to use variable rate financing to open and/or expand their businesses. Variable rates are great when the prime is 4.00%, but not when it's 8.00%!
